Development Engineer

Datalogics is a leading provider of PDF document technologies, document composition and typesetting solutions. Our software development team is growing, and you may be the ideal person to join us.

Responsibilities of the Software Engineer are varied and may include but are not limited to:

Designing and implementing user interfaces for various applications
Coding and debugging across a variety of products and programming environments
Working with a gifted team of software people on product design, implementation and maintenance
Demonstrating exceptional drive and curiosity in expanding your knowledge of programming and software development
Occasional interruption to save Townsville from whatever's threatening civilization at the moment

Sometimes all in the same day. Expect a variety of interesting problems and wide latitude in crafting solutions.

Absolute requirements: We require experience with one or more Microsoft .NET-based (C#, VB.NET, C++/CLI, etc.) languages and experience in C++ software development, and we require experience with software development in Windows and at least one additional environment - Mac or UNIX environments, embedded systems, VMS, mainframes, whatever.

We prefer candidates with:

Intermediate level (or better) Java, Perl, Python and/or Ruby skills
Experience designing, prototyping and implementing graphical user interfaces
Software development experience across a variety of languages, operating systems and environments
Experience writing and debugging multithreaded applications
Experience interacting with current and prospective customers
Prior success in delivering custom or contract software
A college degree in computer science, math or a related field
A history of contributions to Open Source or Free Software efforts: whether in code, interface or documentation improvements

This position is ideal for the strong developer who has several years of professional software development experience and is looking to take his or her learning to the next level, the support or sales engineer looking for a pure technical position, or the highly motivated and skilled recent graduate.
