Development Engineer

Datalogics is a small software company with a large codebase. Several large codebases, to be precise. We provide quality products for our customers, but we've still some tough problems lurking around in there. We've also some more products we want to write. Think you can help?

What we need you to do:

Work with a gifted team of software developers on product design, implementation and maintenance
Write and debug your code and others' across a variety of products and programming environments
Show us drive and curiosity in helping us improve how we approach software development
Welcome occasional interruption to save us from whatever urgent stuff comes in
Play nice with others

Sometimes all in the same day. Sure, everyone thinks they can do all of these - but we're looking for the best. Expect a variety of interesting problems and wide latitude in solving these. We'll expect you to learn new languages, technologies and techniques quickly and to share your knowledge with others.

Your qualifications would ideally include some or all of:

Intermediate level (or better) C#, C++, Java, and/or Python programming skills
Experience designing, prototyping and implementing software APIs and SDKs
Software development experience across a variety of languages, operating systems and environments
A college degree in computer science, math or a related field
Personality and temperament suitable to working closely with a variety of others on a variety of endeavors

This position is based at our offices in downtown Chicago, and is not a remote or telecommuting position. Very occasional travel and interaction with clients is required.
