Datalogics PDF Developer Evangelist

As a Developer Evangelist, you are Datalogics representative to the PDF developer community helping to win hearts and minds regarding the Datalogics product line. The Developer Evangelist is a technical role with the mission of engaging with the broad community of developers and driving excitement around developer-related technologies. The overall mission of this role is to secure adoption and revenue growth through evangelism, community engagement, relationship marketing, and a vibrant solutions ecosystem. This position is a great opportunity to help improve the perception of Datalogics and to increase usage of Datalogics technologies through breadth marketing programs as well as depth engagement with key accounts.

Developer Evangelists must be able to talk about technology intelligently and enthusiastically to Developers, Developer managers and senior management. Passion, curiosity, technical depth, and exceptional communication and presentation skills are essential.


Responsibilities:

  • Engage and build relationships with PDF developers; act as spokesperson, mediator and translator between Datalogics technical staff and outside developers. Act as liaison for developers by understanding their needs and bringing them back to product management and marketing. Engage with our direct line to Adobe technical resources and work with them hand-in-hand on the source; align our communications strategy with theirs via blogs, forums and other media.
  • Deliver articulate, effective, and audience-appropriate presentations and demonstrations with technically oriented content for small and large audiences at various events including: webinars, meetups and tradeshows.
  • Participate in online and offline developer communities, becoming a trusted resource on PDF technologies and solutions.
  • Convey a compelling and convincing case for Datalogics technologies vs. the competition; demonstrate deep knowledge of customer needs and competitive situations and use this knowledge to feed back into product management and engineering teams.
  • Engage influential and third-party communities.
  • Maintain knowledge about multiple versions of the product in the market and promote the roadmap.

Qualifications:

  • Passion for PDF publishing technology including: forms, transactional documents, high quality printing, archival on desktop, server, cloud and mobile. A keen eye for unobvious opportunities and a compelling blend of passion, optimism, customer advocacy, curiosity, and creativity. A clear understanding and expertise in PDF technologies, architectural vision, and roadmap.
  • Strong understanding of security, reliability, scalability and platform management topics as these technologies are deployed from server products to cloud and mobile platforms.
  • Experience with architecture and development lifecycle of software applications for the desktop and server, as well as the move to cloud and mobile.
  • Experience with community development, fostering a self-supporting community of developers, both standalone and in licensed partners.
  • Experience with social media, blogs, and video/screencast technologies, with proven ability to develop and maintain a significant online presence. An established presence in related online communities is a plus.
  • Industry specific expertise in one of the verticals – Financial Services, Government, Manufacturing, Healthcare – is preferred but not required.
  • Solid marketing skills and business logic; previous evangelism experience preferred.
  • Strong organization and prioritization skills are essential, with the capacity for driving quality (rather than quantity) of activities. An overall passion for technology and for the business value it drives is essential.
  • Ability to give presentations to large and demanding technical audiences and the ability to speak with influence and impact.
  • Strong oral and written communications and cross-group collaboration skills are required.
  • 10+ years industry experience; Java and C development required with at least one PDF implementation. PDF standards and publishing technology, cloud, server, and mobile (iOS or Android) a plus.
  • 3+ years of hands-on development experience (Java or C#, JavaScript, HTML, XML, CSS, AJAX).
  • Solid understanding of our products and competitive products; an ability to dig into the products, understand strengths and weaknesses, and present product lines and roadmap in a clear and favorable manner.
  • Ability to travel for business.
