Chicago, IL, May 17, 2005 — Datalogics, Incorporated, a leading provider of software technologies, announced today the availability of the newest version of the Adobe PDF JobReady online print job submission solution. Key features in this release include support for the Adobe Acrobat 7.0 product family on Macintosh® and Windows® platforms, as well as support for additional web server environments. Adobe PDF JobReady was previously available for Windows servers using the IIS web server with Active Server Pages, and now also supports Apache PHP web solutions on Linux®, Solaris™ and Mac OS X.
The new platform offerings will allow print providers to seamlessly integrate PDF JobReady into their existing e-commerce infrastructures. Solution developers creating e-commerce solutions for printing can now integrate this Adobe technology directly with their transaction engines and digital asset management systems on the Internet’s four most popular development platforms.
In addition to increased platform support, Datalogics has implemented support within the PDF JobReady tools for a variety of firewall and proxy server configurations. The PDF JobReady solution is designed to deliver a print job from any Mac or Windows desktop to the print provider in a reliable print ready format. The latest PDF JobReady client installers can now auto-detect proxy servers and configure themselves to direct Internet traffic through firewalls. “A proxy server is an important tool companies of all sizes use to handle their Internet traffic and protect their desktop computers from external attack. Adding support for proxy servers to PDF JobReady enables our company to meet all our customers’ needs more completely,” states David Enderson, Programming Manager of Digital IMS, Inc.
Datalogics now offers PDF JobReady customers an easier way to customize the PPDs (PostScript Printer Definition) that define how the PDF files they receive are created. PDF JobReady creates PDFs that conform to a profile defined by the print providers PPD and the Distiller job options they define when the PDF JobReady clients are configured. Distiller job options are easily configurable through the Adobe interface, and now Datalogics provides an online tool for customizing PPDs. Starting with a standard template, users can add custom page sizes and page labels to define the print services they wish to offer.
