Top 5 Reasons OEMs license our products

Reason #1: Support

Knowledgeable, responsive technical support is critical for our OEM customers. When their customers experience problems in the field, they rely on our technical support engineers to provide quick answers and resolutions to those problems.

Reason #2: Futureproof compatibility with Acrobat, PDF

When Adobe releases new versions of Acrobat, much of that new functionality is provided by the underlying Adobe PDF Library, the same PDF Library that they deliver to us for release to our customers. These new releases are provided free of charge to all of our OEM customers under their Maintenance Agreement. This enables them to add new features and enhancements to their products, and to maintain compatibility with current versions of Acrobat and the PDF Specification.

Reason #3: The Adobe brand

Adobe is the creator of and industry leader for all things PDF. Utilizing real Adobe technology, such as the Adobe PDF Library SDK, not only allows our customers to leverage the hard work of Adobe engineers, but also gives them rights to market their tools as having "Adobe inside". Being able to leverage the Adobe brand is of tremendous value, and helps shorten sales cycles, etc.

Reason #4: .NET and Java language support

Many OEMs today are developing applications in either .NET or Java. If their application is multi-platform, Java is often used. If the application is Windows-based, then .NET is the most common choice. Our extensions to the Adobe PDF Library SDK (sourced from Adobe) include both .NET and Java language interfaces.

Reason #5: Stay current with the PDF Specification

The current PDF Specification is at v1.7, and even though PDF is now an ISO Standard (ISO 32000), we expect the PDF format to continue to evolve. Since the Adobe PDF Library SDK is kept in sync with Acrobat versions, customers who license the Adobe PDF Library from us can easily keep pace with updates to the PDF Specification.
