Datalogics was founded in 1967 in Chicago, IL. We developed one of the first computerized typesetting systems, and the editing workstations to drive them. In the early 1980’s, we took part in the ISO committee to standardize SGML (the forerunners of XML and HTML). We applied this knowledge when developing DL Pager and DL Composer publishing systems.
Datalogics was purchased by Frame Technology Corporation in 1983, which was then purchased by Adobe Systems. We were then spun off as a privately-held independent company. Adobe retained partial interest as an Adobe Ventures Company. Since 1997, we’ve worked closely with Adobe, acting as the key channel for several of their PDF toolkits. These include Adobe PDF Library, Adobe PDF Print Engine, Adobe InDesign Server, and the Adobe Reader Mobile SDK.
Today, our business focuses on providing advanced technologies to software developers. We’ve enabled them to bring their products to market faster with the best PDF capabilities. We support hundreds of customers worldwide who use our technology in mission-critical applications. Technology has changed dramatically over the past 50 years, but our core values remain. We remain committed to supporting our customers, and providing them with the best possible products and services.

Adobe & Datalogics
Datalogics has a unique business relationship with Adobe Inc. Although we are separately owned and operated company, at one point we were wholly owned by Adobe. Today Adobe retains interest in Datalogics as an Adobe Portfolio Company.
We work closely with Adobe, and meet with them regularly at their headquarters in San Jose, as well as their development offices in India. We have source-code level agreements for many of their PDF developer technologies. Any fixes we make to the code are sent back to Adobe for incorporation.
We are the key channel for licensing server of Adobe’s PDF developer toolkits, including the Adobe PDF Library SDK, since 1998. Additionally, we are the exclusive licensor of Adobe’s PDF Print Engine for developers, and Adobe InDesign Server for OEMs.
Licensing this broad portfolio of Adobe’s PDF developer technologies gives us unique perspectives. This allows us to work with companies to best determine the most appropriate technology for their situation. We’re also able to provide Adobe consistency, reliability, and compatibility in our products as well.
