Maven is a popular build tool for Java-based projects that allows developers to manage project dependencies and build processes. A Maven repository is a central location where Maven artifacts (such as libraries, frameworks, and plugins) are stored and can be easily accessed by developers.

Maven repositories use a specific directory structure and naming convention to organize artifacts. This makes it easy for developers to find and download the artifacts they need, as well as for Maven to manage dependencies and resolve conflicts between different versions of the same artifact.
